The Eastern
Conference Semifinals are slated to start on Saturday between the #3 Milwaukee

The host Nets
are the betting favorites to start the series, at -4. The over/under is
expected to be high throughout the entire series, with the total points line

Let’s refresh
ourselves on how each team got here and then break down how the teams match up
for this series.

HANDICAPPER SOFTWARE COMING INTO FOCUS
Milwaukee
Bucks: Brooms Out
The Bucks
easily handled the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA
Playoffs, sweeping the defending East Champs 4-0.
Besides a
two-point overtime win in Game 1, Milwaukee’s average margin of victory was
26.7 points.
The
dominating effort was a product of a balanced team, strong on both ends of the
floor.
The Bucks own
the second-best offense in the entire NBA, a ranking that combines points per
game, shooting percentage, and efficiency. The offense prefers to do their
scoring from deep, fifth in the NBA at shooting the three.
We smashed
our last pick where we took the OVER in our Cubs
at Tigers pick! The final score was 9-8, with 13
runs scored in the 1st 5 innings.
With the
supporting cast excelling from deep, it allows star Giannis Antetokounmpo to
operate near the hoop. Antetokounmpo did it all in Round 1, averaging 23.5
points per game, 15.0 rebounds, 7.8 assists, and 1.8 steals. Both the points
and rebounds led the team.
Keep an eye
on guard Bryn Forbes in this series against Brooklyn. Forbes shot over eight
threes per game, shooting nearly 50% from beyond the arc.
The over was
2-2 in the Bucks first-round series, and Milwaukee was 3-1 ATS.

Brooklyn
Nets: Stars Shine
Brooklyn
finally has all three of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving together,
and the end product is pretty.
The Nets got
by Boston without much trouble, winning the series in five games.
Durant
averaged nearly 33 points per game, while Harden had 27.8 and Irving 24.8. KD
tacked on a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game, and Harden chipped in 10.6 assists
per game.
Game 1 was a
low-scoring 104-93 contest, and then the points exploded in this series.
The over hit
in Games 2-4 and just missed the mark in Game 5.
Offense is
the way for Brooklyn, with the top-ranked offense in the NBA. The Nets, like
Milwaukee, prefer the outside shot, ranking fourth in the regular season in
three-point shooting.
The over was
so prevalent in their series against the Celtics thanks to Brooklyn’s
19th-ranked defense, the one thing that may hold them back in these playoffs.
The over was
3-2 in the series, and the Nets were 4-1 ATS.

Game Pick
This should
be the premier matchup between the two Eastern semifinal series. The Bucks
looked dominant in Round 1, while no one can match the firepower of Brooklyn’s
Big Three.
These are the
two best offenses in the NBA, evidenced by this high over/under. Surprisingly,
Milwaukee’s defense, while ranking 16th overall, seriously struggles to stop
the three.
No team was
more generous to three-point success this season than the Bucks. Going against
a Brooklyn offense that shoots threes so frequently, it’s the clear advantage
to target.
The Nets
defense is weaker overall, so despite the high total, we’ll be betting the over
at 239.5 points.
Brooklyn’s
advantage on the offensive end is enough to bet them to cover the four-point
spread in Game 1.
